Kinnaur Kailash Yatra 2026: Free medical services for pilgrims

Vishav Manav Ruhani Kendra (VMRK), inspired by Sant Baljit Singh Ji, always looks for ways to serve devotees, including those setting out on difficult pilgrimages. One such pilgrimage is the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra. On this yatra, devotees trek through steep, narrow, and rocky mountain paths. They keep going until they reach the rock Shiva Lingam situated near the peak of the 6,050-meter-tall Kinnaur Kailash.

This year, starting August 2, VMRK is serving pilgrims by organizing a medical camp at Tangling village. This is where most pilgrims begin the trek. Pilgrims usually leave early in the morning and return by afternoon. To support them, the medical camp is operating around the clock.

The trek is very tiring and many pilgrims arrive at our camp with extreme fatigue, weakness, and muscle pain. To help them, a team of five medical professionals and volunteers is always on hand. The hardest part of the trek is near the Shiva Lingam, where pilgrims must climb over big rocks and boulders. Pilgrims often use nearby rocks for support and, at times, crawl over them. As a result, many come with injuries such as hand and foot blisters, for which VMRK’s medical team provides prompt first aid.

At high altitude, pilgrims feel breathless and dizzy, or get headaches. To ease this, they are provided oxygen through concentrators and cylinders.
