Medical camps 2022
In 2022, Vishav Manav Ruhani Kendra (VMRK) resumed its medical camps after a two-year hiatus prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, we began our medical camps in the states of Punjab and Haryana, and in the union territory of Chandigarh. Later in the year, these camps were also extended to the states of Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra.
These medical camps were held either in VMRK centers or its surrounding areas. These areas were pre-identified by our volunteers through communication with the local administration. Some of these areas were so remote that no motor vehicle could reach there. Therefore, our team had to use bicycles to transport medical equipment and medicines required to run the medical camps.
The medical camps were held weekly and each one started around 10 or 11 in the morning and finished mid-afternoon. More than 470 camps were held throughout the year including camps organized during Ashvin Navratri event.
VMRK’s medical team of doctors, pharmacists and volunteers served at these medical camps. The team conducted basic health check-ups, provided patients with hygiene education and also encouraged them to follow healthy habits. Thousands of patients with health problems including high blood pressure, diabetes, fever, cold, and cough, received medical consultation, first aid, and medicines free of cost.
These medical camps attended to the healthcare needs of the community and spread awareness of prevention and treatment.
Kanwar medical camps 2022
In 2022, the Kanwar Yatra resumed after a 2-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To serve as many kanwarias as possible, VMRK chose to set up the kanwar camps in locations where thousands of kanwarias were expected. From July 16 to August 8, 2022, hundreds of thousands of kanwarias visited the 53 kanwar camps set up by VMRK. More than 44,900 kanwarias received medical services, first aid, and medicines from the qualified medical doctors and paramedical staff stationed at the camps.
