Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026: VMRK serving pilgrims
Every year, devotees eagerly await the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (pilgrimage) to pay reverence to God Shiva. Pilgrims trek through rugged, high-altitude mountain paths to reach the sacred Amarnath Holy Cave. They follow one of two routes: the Baltal route or the Pahalgam route.
Vishav Manav Ruhani Kendra (VMRK) honors the pilgrims’ devotion by conducting charitable activities every year. This year, since July 8, VMRK is providing a range of support services across both routes at Domail, Brarimarg, and Chandanwari. These services follow rules set by the administration and include:
- Patient assistance: VMRK volunteers are present at a government hospital to guide and support pilgrims through the medical process. They help pilgrims move from registration to consultation areas and other sections. When needed, volunteers also help doctors with tasks like dressing wounds and applying plaster casts. In emergencies, VMRK volunteers act quickly. They help move patients from ambulances using stretchers and wheelchairs and accompany those who need to be sent to other hospitals for further treatment. Volunteers work in day and night shifts to stay available around the clock, helping around 40–50 patients each day.
- IEC (Information, Education and Communication) activities: Every morning, volunteers hand out pamphlets with important information shared by the administration. These pamphlets help hundreds of pilgrims travel safely and understand the yatra better.
- Distributing weather-protective clothing: Many devotees come from warmer parts of India and are not prepared for the cold mountain weather. Volunteers offer warm clothing to help them stay comfortable. They also distribute raincoats so pilgrims can continue their trek even during sudden rain.
- Food support for patients: Volunteers arrange and deliver meals to patients whenever needed, supporting their recovery and well-being.
VMRK is grateful for the opportunity to serve pilgrims and, thereby, serve humanity. VMRK will add more details about the services soon after the yatra concludes.
