Spiritual Discourse March 2025, Nawan Nagar, Haryana
Nawan Nagar, March 2025
Each year, Vishav Manav Ruhani Kendra (VMRK) organizes various devotional events that attract a large crowd of attendees. This year, VMRK hosted two such events consecutively at the Nawan Nagar center. On March 28, VMRK organized a spiritual discourse to celebrate the birth anniversary of our Grand Master. The event was memorable, filled with a spiritual atmosphere, cultural unity, and joyous celebrations. Following this, the festival of Chaitra Navratri, observed from March 30 to April 6, was celebrated with immense enthusiasm and fervor.
A summary of the preparations for these two events and how the first event unfolded is presented in this blog post. Full details of the Navratri event are captured in this blog post: 2025 Spring (Chaitra) Navratri Festival.
Planning and preparations for both events
VMRK started preparations for both events well in advance. Three large tents were set up as the main event venue. The ceiling of these tents was adorned with an attractive display of colorful bands of fabric and spherical pendant lights. To complement this, the tent pillars were also draped with color-coordinated fabric. Additionally, numerous other tents were also set up to offer free lodging, wholesome vegetarian food, and other amenities to everyone who attended.
At the areas designated for lodging, VMRK volunteers installed fans where needed, set up charging points, and covered the floors with carpets. For attendees staying in these areas, VMRK provided thin foam mattresses to place over the carpets, along with bedding for their use.
VMRK arranged additional comforts and services for senior citizens and individuals with special needs. Separate lodging areas designated for their use were set up with foldable cots so they would not need to sleep on the carpeted floor. At the food distribution area, a section with tables and chairs was dedicated for their use. To assist these attendees in moving around the event grounds, VMRK deployed several cars and two electric shuttle carts. VMRK volunteers were also stationed with wheelchairs at designated locations to further assist them.
The event was situated on open grounds that became very dusty with the constant movement of the large crowds of attendees. The windy conditions further exacerbated the dustiness. VMRK took prompt action and arranged for water tanks to frequently sprinkle water all over the open areas on the event grounds. This worked well to reduce the dust.
Transportation
VMRK provided transportation services to ensure a hassle-free experience for attendees arriving by public transportation. This service was available from nearby bus and railway stations to the center.
On the night of the spiritual discourse, VMRK took further measures to safeguard attendees traveling to/from the Nawan Nagar Center, located in hilly terrain. One of the most frequently used roads to the center passes through a sparsely populated region with limited network connectivity. In these network blackspots, mobile phone or internet signals are weak or nonexistent, making it difficult or impossible for attendees to call for help should they encounter vehicle-related emergencies.
That evening, VMRK deployed a team of volunteers to frequently patrol this stretch of the route within a 10-kilometer radius of the center. They were equipped with essential supplies, including fuel, a tire puncture kit, and a tow chain to assist in vehicle breakdowns. A tow truck was hired to provide additional assistance as needed. The team continued serving until an hour after the event’s conclusion.
Evening program
On the day of the spiritual discourse, attendees began taking their seats early at the main event tents, eagerly awaiting the evening program. A large team of volunteers guided attendees to the seating area within the tent, which was divided into multiple sections. As the sun began to set, the number of attendees arriving for the event increased significantly. In response, VMRK volunteers promptly expanded the main event area and the food distribution area by laying carpets in the open spaces adjacent to the respective tents.
At 6:30, professional singers began performing devotional songs. Attendees clapped and sang along as they waited for the arrival of Sant Baljit Singh Ji. Given the massive attendance, eight big LED screens and audio equipment were installed at different points in the main event grounds so that attendees could enjoy the event comfortably.
Spiritual discourse
Upon the arrival of Sant Baljit Singh Ji, a wave of joy and excitement spread among the attendees. They expressed their happiness by clapping enthusiastically, even raising their hands while doing so. This was followed by Sant Baljit Singh Ji beginning the spiritual discourse. During the discourse, the attendees were so deeply captivated by his words. The atmosphere became one of deep connection.
After speaking for a few hours, Sant Baljit Singh Ji paused. Observing the eagerness among attendees for more, Sant Baljit Singh Ji asked if they wanted him to continue. The attendees happily requested that the talk continue. The discourse lasted for a total of six hours in which Sant Baljit Singh Ji explained the many aspects of spirituality including the purpose of human life, how God takes various forms each with its own task and purpose, maya and its role in creation, the power of the mind, and how one can overcome the effects of maya and realize the true self.
After the discourse, Sant Baljit Singh Ji walked among the attendees, section by section. During this time, professional singers resumed singing devotional songs. The atmosphere was filled with joy and merriment. Attendees seated in the nearby sections enjoyed a closer glimpse of Sant Baljit Singh Ji, while others enjoyed watching him on the big screens.
Initiation
The next day, on March 29, Sant Baljit Singh Ji gave the holy gift of Naam Daan to the spiritual seekers who received initiation into the meditation of the inner Light and Sound. Although the event came to a close, many attendees chose to stay on for the Navratri celebration that started the next day. Local attendees took their leave for the evening with full enthusiasm to return the following evening to partake in the Navratri festivities as well. All of them carried a sense of joy, excited that the celebration would continue to give them more days to enjoy the presence of Sant Baljit Singh Ji.
Charitable services at Nawan Nagar
This event was another opportunity for VMRK to carry out multiple charitable activities. From March 27–29, 2025, VMRK conducted these activities to serve individuals living in underprivileged communities in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. Teams of VMRK volunteers were formed and assigned specific responsibilities, which included: identifying the areas for the charity beyond the center, sharing information about the charitable activity with the people, procuring supplies, assembling or packing materials, and executing these charitable activities.
Medical and hygiene camps
VMRK organized a 24-hour medical camp from March 27–29 at the event grounds of the Nawan Nagar center. The camp was stocked with essential medical equipment, including a nebulizer, an oxygen concentrator, an ECG machine, and a multipara monitor. A team of 30 skilled medical professionals and 33 volunteers was available to offer free consultation, first aid, patient care, and medicines to patients.
During the event, the temperature remained warm during the day but dropped significantly at night. Many were unprepared for the fluctuations between the warm days and cold nights. This led to many patients visiting the camp to seek medical attention for colds, coughs, body pain, and nausea. The medical team carefully attended to them. Patients suffering from muscular and joint pain also received physiotherapy treatment.
Over the 3 days, thousands of patients received medical care, of which more than 60 patients received in-house medical attention at the 24-bed clinical treatment center. Four fully equipped ambulances were stationed on standby to transport patients with severe health conditions to the nearest hospital for further diagnosis and treatment.
VMRK also organized two medical camps in Village Kamil and Ram Bagh, both within a 40-kilometer radius of its Nawan Nagar center. These camps typically ran from early afternoon to early evening. Staffed by a team of 10 medical professionals and VMRK volunteers, these camps offered free medical care that benefited more than 900 patients.
At past medical camps VMRK organized in these regions, we observed that residents often faced health issues due to inadequate sanitation practices. Noting that many in these communities are unaware that poor hygiene contributes to health issues, VMRK once again arranged hygiene camps to promote good health and hygiene practices. VMRK’s team provided basic hygiene education and distributed more than 250 hygiene kits. Each kit consisted of 4 bathing soaps, 4 washing soaps, 3 toothbrushes, 2 tubes of toothpaste, and 1 nail cutter.
Blood donation camp
VMRK also organized a blood donation camp on March 28. In preparation for the camp, our volunteers first contacted the blood bank team from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) for collaboration. Following this, our volunteers arranged the necessary materials, including blood donor beds and refreshments to offer to donors after donation. To promote the event and encourage more participation, VMRK published details of the camp in the local newspaper prior.
On the day of camp, doctors first examined the prospective donors to ensure they were fit to donate blood. This included checks for hemoglobin levels and body weight. Then, they drew blood from those who were eligible. In total, 46 donors voluntarily donated 46 units (18.4 liters) of blood.
