In 2024, Vishav Manav Ruhani Kendra (VMRK) continued to organize blood donation camps. Throughout the year, 21 blood donation camps were organized where 1,352 individuals successfully donated a total of 1,352 units i.e. 540.8 liters of blood. These camps were held in the states of Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Many of these camps were organized alongside charitable activities during special events celebrated at VMRK centers. Organizing blood donation camps at each location involved meticulous planning and implementation. First, our volunteers began by reaching out to blood bank teams from the Indian Red Cross Society and various government hospitals to request collaboration.

Then our teams focused on reaching out to the community to encourage participation. Prior to holding the blood donation camps in the respective states, we made announcements at the local VMRK centers to the local community gathered to attend our free well-being programs. These announcements explained the importance of donating blood and subsequently shared information about the upcoming camp. To reach even more people, details about the camps were also published in local newspapers. Following these appeals, a list of individuals who expressed interest in donating blood was prepared.

On the day of the camp, volunteers set up the tables, chairs, and blood donor beds. When prospective donors arrived, they first underwent a registration process. These individuals were then screened by the doctor to assess their eligibility to donate blood. The eligible donors then awaited their turn to donate.

After donating blood, donors were brought to a resting area, where VMRK volunteers served refreshments, including bananas, fruit juice, biscuits, and milk. Volunteers also looked after the donors to ensure they felt fine before they left the resting area. Each donor received a certificate from the hospital as acknowledgment and appreciation of their blood donation.

On various occasions including ‘World Blood Donor Day’, and ‘National Voluntary Blood Donation Day’, several state administrations and hospitals have acknowledged VMRK’s contribution in organising blood donation camps. On Independence Day, August 15, 2024, VMRK received the following certificate from the Deputy Commissioner of Rupnagar, Punjab.
