School Support Programs 2022-2023
In 2022 and 2023, Vishav Manav Ruhani Kendra (VMRK) continued to assist underprivileged students. Our school support programs from previous years showed that school children in families that live in slum areas need ongoing support. This motivated us to incorporate the school support program into the charitable outreach that VMRK conducts alongside celebrating special events like Navratri, Guru Purnima, and during spiritual discourses. The following blog posts describe how these programmes include support for students:
- Charitable services at Guru Purnima 2023
- Charitable services at May 2023 Spiritual Discourse
- Humanitarian services in Nagpur, March 2023
- Serving communities around Pimpalner in February 2023
- Serving villages and slums during Ashvin Navratri 2022.
School supplies for students
VMRK volunteers engaged with the administration in these schools to understand the challenges faced by their students. Schools in slum areas often lack basic infrastructure and the families do not have sufficient resources to provide their children with adequate school supplies. To address the scarcity, VMRK provided essential school supplies to these students. VMRK arranged school uniforms, woolen sweaters, school bags, stationery kits, notebooks, water bottles, socks, and school shoes. VMRK volunteers also made certain that the uniforms, sweaters, and shoes were the right size to fit these students.
In the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh, some schools are extremely remote, inaccessible by roads. Undeterred by the inaccessibility, VMRK volunteers trekked several miles to reach these schools, to deliver the supplies to the underprivileged students in the remotest areas.
VMRK volunteers visited more than 830 schools across different states, including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, and Himachal Pradesh. Over 67,000 underprivileged students were overjoyed to receive these gifts and their faces beamed with radiant smiles.
